Praise God for new beginnings and New Hope as we begin the New Year of 2018.
October 24, 2017 marked the dedication of New Hope Counseling Center on the IGO Campus of India Bible College and Seminary, in Kumbanad, Kerala, India. IGO President Valson Abraham led the dedicatory service.
New Hope Counseling Center is an initiative of IGO and India Bible College and Seminary. It grows out of pioneering efforts to use biblical counseling to reach India’s people in new ways for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
New Hope Counseling Center will serve individuals and families throughout the greater community surrounding the Bible College who seek hope, purpose and wholeness. Trained Christian counselors will help to introduce biblical values and scientific methods to problems related to home, work and daily life.
New Hope will especially offer help to those troubled by personal problems, marriage and family challenges, matters related to children and youth, old age, addictions, trauma, depression, learning disabilities, phobias, stress, anger management, grief, substance abuse and other matters. New Hope also offers pre-marital counseling.
New Hope Center will also conduct retreats, personality development programs, education programs, psychological assessments, and workshops for crisis management and interventions.
These services are available to all regardless of their religious backgrounds. Soon after the dedication, people in the community began to use these new services.
Director of New Hope Counseling Center is Rev. Saju Joseph of India Bible College and Seminary, and Coordinator is Manu Mathew. Consultant Counselor is Rev. Dr. Issac V. Mathew. Six other full-time Christian counselors have advanced degrees in counseling and spiritual gifts of discernment to minister to those in need.
Also participating in the service of dedication were Pastor Amos Dodge, a long-time friend of IGO and IBC, and Pastor Dennis Gallaher, also a long-time friend of IGO, who first introduced India Bible College and Seminary to biblical counseling as a tool for evangelism and Christian growth fourteen years ago.
Pray that New Hope Counseling Center will bear much fruit in lives redeemed and matured through the power of the Good News.
Pray that New Hope Counseling Center will become a model for other such centers throughout India where biblical counseling is still almost unknown.
